Carvings
During the Covid year, we rented a house in the Poconos. I took to whittling sticks with my Swiss Army Knife from my Boy Scout days. It soon led to carving figures — and then painting them.
People
SAM / My first attempt resulted in an amputated arm. I finished it anyway and painted a plaid shirt, golden belt buckle, and worn jeans. 4.5 inches
BILL / My second attempt was smaller (about 2 1/2 inches), but I managed to cut the space between both arms and between the legs.
PRISCILLA / I carved this one for Abby, with textured hair, and smooth dress meticulously painted with a vine pattern. 2.75 inches
CAPTAIN AHAB / An epic story of man versus nature. I thought it would be interesting to attempt a peg leg and walking stick in addition to bulging overcoat and rumpled hat of this colorful character. 3.5 inches
